Esperance
Night One’s Racing was a fantastic opener to this inaugural series.
From the drop of the first green Flag the action was “White Hot”.
The track was “Racy” and the Eastern Invaders were there, ready for the fight.
Heat one would see Local “Hot Shoe” Kemble Aylett push Lucas Roberts right to the Chequered Flag.
South Australia’s Dan Miller would take on WA#1 Rob Bawdon and maintain a strong finish to the end of Heat Two.
Heat Three had Troy Brook race against two of the most inform Easterners in Bergmeier and Kane.
The battle was fever pitched seeing Brook come home first.
Heat Four had Gartner rise to the top and leave Higgs and Higgs wondering “where did he Go”.
DK (Darren Kane) was going to hard to beat in heat Five and had too much pace for Bergmeier.
The Final Heat saw the Master (Paddy Ward) and his Apprentice (Lachlan Onley) take on all comers and finish One, Two.
The A Dash would be the first of many Podiums for Darren Kane and the First Esky would be going to the East.
The B Dash had a result that would have the retiring Paddy Ward also picking up a Big Green Esky.
The Gold Nugget Dash had Lynn Ward (Paddy’s wife) looking good for another big chunk of gold, but Darren Kane had other ideas and took the Gold.
Feature Time had the Huge Crowd Flashing Lights and Beeping horns in appreciation as Lucas Roberts came from the rear and showed the Mid Race Leader Kane he was fast on the Top Side.
Unfortunately Roberts was to crash leaving Onley to realise he too could go “Upstairs” to pass his Team Mate, Ward and Kane with only a few laps left and take the Chequer.
Kalgoorlie
The “Moama Mauler”, Lucas Roberts, owned heat One from Start To Finish.
Roberts decided early that night to show Darren Kane he was a contender.
Gartner had the “Locked and Loaded” Lachlan Onley show him that the previous night was no fluke.
Dave fired the final shot to lead home his fellow Bullet driver in Heat Two.
Home Track Hero, Rob Bawdon showed his local crowd why he is WA#1 by beating the hard charging “Mongrel” Keith Higgs home for the win in Heat Three.
Lucas Roberts took another win over Kane in Heat Four and looked like he was unbeatable.
Heat Five was for the Young Guns, which saw Onley finish ahead of the Spectacular Brooks.
Dusty Higgs showed that his Rocket was definitely on the pace ahead of fellow Rockateer Bergmeier at the end of Heat Six.
The A Dash had the crowd “Going Off” as WA#1 Bawdon led home the very fast Roberts and the inform Onley
The B Dash and the second Esky eventually went to Darren Kane as the result was reversed as Keith Higgs, showing just why he is one of the “Best and Fairest” drivers in this category. He spoke publicly about not wanting to win like that and thus lead the Chief Steward to put Keith back to Second after contacting Darren on the last lap.
The Gold Nugget Dash
The inform Lachlan Onley was going to be hard to beat as he took on all comers to own one of these Sizable Nuggets
Feature Time had Darren Kane turn the tables on Onley and pass the youngster on the outside to take victory and win the overall event by one point.
